StatusCheck vs Pingdom
A calmer, flat-priced Pingdom alternative.
A Pingdom alternative with 30-second checks, a status page that isn't an afterthought, and on-call escalation, from $9 instead of $16.50 for the same ten checks.
Pingdom facts verified September 4, 2026 Pingdom website
Pingdom is the name people know: it has been checking websites since 2007, it probes from more than a hundred servers, and, to its credit, it does a second check from another location before it alerts you. If you already pay for its transaction checks or Real User Monitoring, it’s a reasonable place to keep your uptime checks too.
The gap is everything around the check. Pingdom’s status page is a report; there is no on-call; and the price per check has crept up to where ten checks cost $16.50 a month and fifty cost $71.50. StatusCheck runs the same kind of check at a 30-second interval from 18 regions, adds a real status page and escalation, and prices the whole thing at $9, $19 and $49.
Why teams switch
Where StatusCheck differs from Pingdom.
A third of the price for the same checks
Pingdom's Synthetic Monitoring starts at $16.50 a month billed yearly for 10 uptime checks, and 50 checks cost $71.50. StatusCheck's Solo plan is $9 for 20 monitors and Team is $19 for 50 with all 18 regions.
The status page is a product, not a report
Pingdom's public status pages are a reporting feature. StatusCheck pages have components, subscribers, incident timelines, scheduled maintenance, custom domains and white-label, and they update from the same confirmed check that pages you.
On-call is included
Pingdom alerts by email, SMS and integrations. StatusCheck adds on-call schedules and escalation policies on the Team plan, so the right person is paged and the next person if they don't acknowledge.
The same confirmation, spelled out
Pingdom performs a second check from another location before alerting, and so does StatusCheck, from a second region, on every plan. We also record which regions confirmed it and put that in the alert.

In fairness
When Pingdom is the better choice.
A comparison that only lists wins isn’t worth reading. Pick them if:
- You need transaction/browser checks, page-speed tests, or Real User Monitoring in the same account.
- You want a vendor that has been in market since 2007 with a SolarWinds enterprise contract behind it.
- You need to choose from 100+ probe servers rather than 18 regions.
