Privacy policy

Last updated September 4, 2026

This policy explains what personal data StatusCheck (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit https://statuscheck.io, join our waitlist, or use the StatusCheck service, and what we do with it. We keep it short on purpose; if anything is unclear, email support@statuscheck.io.

Who we are

StatusCheck is the operator of this website and the StatusCheck uptime-monitoring service. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: support@statuscheck.io.

What we collect and why

Waitlist and contact

When you join the waitlist we store your email address and the page you signed up from. We use it to invite you to early access and to send occasional product updates until launch. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time. Legal basis: your consent.

Website analytics

We measure traffic to this website using privacy-preserving, aggregate analytics that do not use cookies and do not identify individual visitors. We do not run advertising trackers.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and troubleshooting. Logs are retained for a limited period and then deleted.

The StatusCheck service

When you create an account we store your name, email address, and password hash, the monitors, channels, and status pages you configure, the results of the checks we run for you, and billing details processed by our payment provider. We use this data solely to provide the service you signed up for. Legal basis: performance of a contract.

Status-page subscribers give us their email address (or Slack workspace) to receive updates about a specific status page. Subscriptions are double opt-in and every message includes a one-click unsubscribe link. We process subscriber data on behalf of the customer who operates the status page.

Sub-processors

We use a small number of third-party providers to run the service: cloud hosting in multiple regions for the monitoring probes and application, an email delivery provider, an SMS and voice provider, and a payment processor. Each is bound by a data-processing agreement. A current list is available on request and will be published in the documentation before general availability.

Retention

Waitlist addresses are deleted when you unsubscribe or within 12 months of launch, whichever is sooner. Service data is retained for as long as your account exists and deleted within 30 days of account closure, except where we must keep records for tax or legal reasons. Check-result history is retained for the period included in your plan.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email support@statuscheck.io. If you are in the EEA or UK you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Secrets you store in monitors, such as authorization headers, are encrypted and never written to logs, alerts, or displayed after saving. Access to production systems is restricted and audited.

Children

StatusCheck is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and note the date at the top. Material changes affecting account holders will be announced by email.
